Vikki Hasche
Vikki grew up in town, but married into the farm life! After marrying her high school sweetheart, Steve, they moved to the family farm north of Lake Preston. The farm has been in the family for over a century. The family farms about 1250 acres of corn, wheat, and soybeans. Vikki & Steve have three children. John is in 6th grade, Billi is in 5th, and Jack is a 1st grader.

Vikki has been teaching for 15 years and currently teaches at Arlington Elementary School in Arlington, SD. As a fourth grade teacher, Vikki is able to incorporate many AITC activities in the study of South Dakota, which is emphasizes in fourth grade curriculum. Although the activities are used throughout the year; Hasche has chosen to do many of the activities during what has become her annual "South Dakota Ag Week."

"I use Ag as the focus for almost all my lessons and classes throughout the week. We study agricultural statistics and graphing in math; we do geography and economics during social studies. In science, we study plants, make soy crayons and corn plastic. In writing class we write about how agriculture affects our lives each day and how it influences life in the state of South Dakota. We also coordinate with the kitchen staff to have a South Dakota Lunch in the lunchroom one day."
